Thoughtfull – Book Review

Homeschooling isn’t just about teaching the children math, reading, history, grammar and science.  Homeschooling is about teaching the child as a whole.  Now some of you may say “well that is stuff parents are suppose to do” and you are correct, but when the children are at home with you then you get to spend more time focusing on those character traits and other areas children need to be taught in.

One important trait children need to learn at a young age is about how they treat others and that everyone is not the same.  “Thoughtfull” by Dorena Williamson is an amazing book for helping children understand that just because someone is different from you doesn’t mean they are any less of a person.

“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit.”  1 Corinthians 12:4

In “Thoughtfull” a child with down syndrome receives an award and some children are making fun of him.  His friend is bothered by how they are talking about him and talks to  his dad about it.  I absolutely loved the award in the book and the chant with it.  I decided to journal part of it into my Bible.

If you are looking for a wonderful book to teach your children about being thoughtful of other children’s gifts I would highly recommend “Thoughtfull” by Dorena Williamson.  My six year old loved the book and learned about showing others love and being thoughtful.
