If your prayer life needs awakening or even if you think you have a great prayer life, “Radical Prayer” by Manny Mill with Harold Smith and Barbara Mill is an amazing book that I highly recommend you take the time to read.
“Radical Prayer” is a pretty quick read, however, it has a strong story that will really open your eyes about your prayer life and how changing life can be when you are purposeful in radical prayer.
Manny carries you from crisis to conviction to change in his book sharing personal stories about his own life and how prayer helped him during all of these times. The book continues on with Manny talking about radical prayer’s purpose, persistence, power, love and how it works in action.
The stories in this book are very moving. I laughed and cried while reading the book!! It really reminds me of something I have said before “Have you prayed about it as much as you have talked about it?”.
Throughout the book Manny quotes a good bit of scripture that I was taking note of to go back and read deeper about in my Bible later on. One chapter he reference quiet a bit that really stuck with me is Luke 11.
When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed by thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Luke 11:2-4
I decided I wanted to use this chapter for Bible journaling. One thing in the book that really stood out to me was when Manny spoke about using your “mother tongue” or “heart language” and this really spoke to me. When I started thinking about what I wanted to journal for Luke 11 what stood out to me was “ask, seek, knock”. For God to help us we have to ask him, we have to seek him and we have to knock on his door. Manny referenced these three words in Greek and I decided to use the Greek translation of these words for my journaling page.
Another part of my journaling page that is inspired by “Radical Prayer” is the journaling down the margin of my page. Through out the book Manny prays many times and this particular prayer really stood out to me. If you have any questions about how I completed this journaling page please let me know and I would be more than happy to answer them.
I would rate “Radical Prayer” a five out of five stars. As we wrap up our month on prayer I want to say for those of you looking to continue to grow in your prayer life I would read this book!!
